Weed Work - Trekking and tramping through
Motutapu's unique forest/hill tops ridding the island of the dreaded Moth Plant,
Apple of Sodom and Woolly Nightshade. A hard but very rewarding day's work.
Nursery Work - Planting and caring for seedlings and saplings ensuring that there will be plants available during the planting
season. A relaxing and rewarding day's work.
Planting - The name says it all.
A good and very productive day's work.
- At least one drink bottle
- Appropriate clothing
- Sturdy tramping shoes
- No clothing/items that you're afraid to lose
- A hat of some kind
- Rain jacket
- $22 for a return ticket
Ferries to Motutapu leave from Auckland City at 9:15am and from Devonport Wharf at 9:25am. Ferries return to Devonport circa 4:30pm and Auckland City circa 5:00pm. Return tickets cost $12 dollars for children (anyone aged below 16) and $22 for anyone aged 16 and up - (both prices including the volunteer discount).
Volunteer discount cards (for registered volunteers) are provided by volunteer organisers, identifiable by Motutapu Restoration Trust shirts or caps, under the arch of the Ferry Building at the Downtown ferry terminal between 8.45 and 9am or at the ‘meeting place’ at the Devonport ferry between 9am and 9.15am.
